Main research line consists of randomized clinical trials addressing different bariatric surgery techniques in morbidly obese patients in order to explore their effect and results with regard to weight loss, resolution of comorbidities, as well as possible risks and complications of each surgical procedure. It also include little explored areas (such as bariatric surgery in psychiatric patients) and field of study with increasing relevance (such as adipokines in patients undergoing bariatric surgery).
