Environmental cues in association with different hormones and circadian-secreted neuropeptides are responsible for modulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, stimulating sexual maturation, and synchronizing the ovulatory cycle in adulthood. Our laboratory investigates the action of different hormones and neuropeptides on hypothalamic neuronal groups essential for the onset of puberty and the establishment of reproductive functions. Using electrophysiological, neuroanatomical, behavioral, and pharmacogenetic approaches, our goal is to contribute to the understanding of how different pieces of information are integrated to modulate the central components of the HPG axis, and therefore the reproduction.
